2nd Week of Field Experience
Courtney and I were able to teach a math lesson today dealing with the "Walking Purchase." I'm grateful that we're able to be with Mrs. Siebach because she does a great job of incorporating social studies through out the day every day. Mrs. Siebach is a very passionate teacher and is involved in a lot of different things with school. The pros of having her for a cooperating teacher is that I'm able to learn how I can be passionate and excited when I'm teaching and helping students. However the cons of having her for a cooperating teacher is that she has little time to meet with us because she always has meetings during lunch and after school. Today is the first day that Courtney and I were able to teach and actually have her observing us. The first three lessons we have taught has either been where there was a sub (our first day) or she split up the class so Courtney and I could teach one subject while she would teach another subject and we would switch as soon as our lessons were done. Mrs. Siebach is a great 5th grade teacher. I just wish we would be more feedback on what we need to do. Even though my field teacher is hard to learn from I am grateful that i have a good partner that I'm able to learn from and to learn with. Courtney is an excellent teacher!!!

Abbey is a great teacher also. With the stress we're under I'm suprised we even taught today and had it go over so well. It's been so fun to have Abbey as my partner.
Abby, it sounds like things are a little crazy but you and Courtney are handling things so well. I guess that's what teaching is all about. I am learning so much and realize that sometimes things are not always going to go as planned but it is OK. Keep on doing your best-you're awesome! See you in a couple of weeks!!!
Hi Abby! Its great to hear that you are doing well. I do think it would be difficult to not have more feedback from your teacher, but I would guess that means that she feels you are doing a very good job or she would have made the time to talk with you.
Hi Abbey! I actually know the teacher you are working with... Weird... I used to be good friends with her son and she used to work with my mom. Anyway, it sounds like you and Courtney are sure learning a lot! I think one learns more when they are faced with challenges rather when they just coast through an experience. Keep up the good work!
I'm sorry you guys have had such a rough time with some of the elements of field! I can't wait to hear all about it! I'm sure you guys are amazing teachers and that the students in your class have learned a lot from you and look up to you!
Haven't you received feedback from your supervisor? It sounds like it has been a little difficult? I'm glad you were able to teach some. Were you able to take the whole class when the substitute teacher was there?
Abbey-
I totally agree with you about how frustrating it can be to not get feedback from your cooperating teacher. It's hard because you want to know how you did and what you can do better. But I'm sure you and Courtney are doing great! You are both awesome! Keep up the good work! See you back at school! :P
